Cobalt, Stone Bound – Professor of Transmutation
Human Elemi Humanoid (Bard/Sorcerer/Warlock)
Step into the grim reality of ultimate sacrifice with Cobalt, Stone Bound. This hand-selected Artifact captures a premier scholar mid-stride, adjusting his top hat as he leans upon a heavy, orb-headed cane. Cloaked in a textured, high-collared duster coat that catches the wind, he carries the physical weight of an extreme magical self-transformation, frozen at the thin boundary between flesh and stone.
Highlight
For the Keeper demanding an exceptional focal point for localized magical investigations or high-stakes institutional encounters, this Artifact anchors the table layout perfectly. The intricate weave texturing across his heavy mantle coat, the sharp lines of his top hat, and the subtle stone-like detailing of his features offer an elite canvas for technical drybrushing, edge-highlighting, and cold, atmospheric washes.
Encounter Insight
Cobalt functions beautifully as an unyielding institutional ally, a secretive rogue academic, or an unpredictable neutral faction boss manipulating localized lines of sight. In tactical grid combat, utilize his poise to represent a calculated battlefield controller—deploying transmutation hazards and defensive petrification fields to bottleneck player movement while keeping himself protected behind structural cover.

Tabletop Lore
When Dragonblight gripped Canos, Cobalt Fairfax was one of the first lines of defense in setting up the quarantine. In doing so he was struck by one of the plague monsters, and believed himself to have become infected. In a last-hope effort to stall the plague’s onset through his skin, he underwent a complete transmutation to replace his outer flesh for stone. Though this has led to many complications since, he believes if he were to somehow reverse the process, he would surely perish. He now teaches Transmutation at the University of Canos, and is a walking example of the most extreme examples of the school of magic.
