Hailing from a long line of decorated military officers, Karthis was poised to follow in the footsteps of his forefathers, having spent most of his early career in the army stationed along the harsh desert border, repelling bands of brigands and smugglers. However, a single fateful encounter with a small family trying to flee the capital permanently shattered his perspective on his homeland and its leadership. He was summarily and dishonorably discharged, stripped of his rank, and ordered back to his ancestral home in Grimhelm in deep shame.
