Coiled within the lightless arterial pipes of the undercity, Variant 2 of the Whispering Worm represents a hunker-down defensive posture. While its siblings may reach and lunge, this Artifact is captured in a compact, coiled position atop a jagged sewer outcropping, ready to spring or drag prey into its crushing embrace.
Highlight
For the Keeper, Variant 2 offers a more stationary, “lurking” alternative to the more kinetic first variant. Its pose on a 50mm base allows it to fit perfectly into tight corridors or atop larger terrain features as a hidden hazard. It is a masterpiece of grotesque anatomy, blending the recognizable features of a human skeletal structure with the repulsive mass of a subterranean parasite.

Utilize this variant to represent a “Sentinel” or “Guardian” role within the Mother of Whispers’ court. Because it is coiled and low-profile, it serves as an excellent candidate for “Surprise Attack” mechanics, bursting from the muck when players are at their most vulnerable. For painters, the deep folds in the segmented hide and the transition from fleshy pinks to chitinous bone-greys provide an incredible opportunity for wet-blending and high-contrast washes. The Whispering Worm is the shadow of a thought given form. Born from the psychic residue of the Gilded District, these horrors do not hunt for sustenance so much as they hunt for the remnants of a soul. While the first variant acts as the court’s reach, Variant 2 is the court’s weight. It anchors itself to the stone, vibrating with the collective trauma of the city above, waiting for a wanderer to stray too close to the “Ivory Toll.” It does not scream when it strikes; it only vibrates with a low-frequency hum that mirrors the last words of its previous meal.
